Romania: Romanian beer market is to reach a value of EUR 600 million this year, corresponding to a consumption of more than 14 million hl of beer, according estimations by the Association of Romanian brewers. In 2003 Romania consumed 12.8 million hl of beer at a value of EUR 550 million. The four largest Romanian beer makers - Brau Romania Union, Interbrew Romania, SAB Miller and United Romanian Breweries Bereprod – control together more than 75 % of the beer market. The rise would have been even more significant if the sales were not influenced negatively by the rainy weather of this summer.
