World: Barley trade forecast increased to 27.278 mln tonnes
Worlds barley trade is expected to total 27.278 mln tonnes in 2020/21, USDA said in its October report, increasing thus its previous forecast of 26.978 mln tonnes.
The October forecast is just slightly lower than the estimate for 2019/20, pegged at 27.577 mln tonnes.
Export forecast is up for the EU (+300 thousand tonnes to 6 mln), Russia (+300 thousand tonnes to 5.4 mln), Canada (+300 thousand tonnes to 2.7 mln), and down for Ukraine (- 1 mln tonnes to 4 mln).
World barley production in 2020/21 is seen slightly lower this month at 156.75 mln tonnes vs. 156.975 mln in the September forecast and 156.411 mln tonnes in 2019/20.
Barley consumption is forecast to total 155.756 mln tonnes (155.842 mln tonnes in September, 154.54 mln tonnes in 2019/20) and ending stocks at 20.656 mln tonnes (20.966 and 19.662 mln tonnes, respectively).
