UK: Barley and wheat usage for brewing, malting, and distilling decline in 2020/21 so far
Barley usage by UK brewers, maltsters and distillers decreased by 9.8% year on year in August to 141.4 thousand tonnes, AHDB reported on October 1.
In July-August 2020, barley usage fell by 16.2% to 261.9 thousand tonnes.
Wheat used by UK brewers, maltsters and distillers in August 2020 was 25.5% lower than the same period last year at 50.6 thousand tonnes.
In the first two months of the current marketing year, wheat usage declined by 12.8% to 112.2 thousand tonnes.
