Ukraine: Beer and malt production decline in January-July this year
Ukraines beer production in January-July this year reached 11.1 mln hl or 1.4% less than over the fist seven months of last year, Profibeer reported on August 19.
Malt production was 185,727 tonnes, 11% less than in January-July 2019.
The nations beer output fell by 0.4% to 18.02 mln hl in 2019. 2018 was the last year for the brewing sector to show an increase in brewed volume (+2.5%). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, industry players and observers are not expecting any growth this year. Small craft brewers have been hit especially hard by the coronavirus crisis they have asked the government to suspend excise duties and cancel the wholesale licencing currently in place.
