Canada, NL: Iron Rock Brewing becomes Labradors first brewery
The first brewery in Labrador has announced that it is now open for business, the Canadian Beer News reported on October 21.
Iron Rock Brewing has been founded by brothers Brian and Dave Hurley, and is located in Labrador City, a town on the western edge of Labrador near the border with Quebec.
Named in recognition of the iron ore mines that are the primary industry of the area, Iron Rock opened this past weekend with five beers on tap including Lawn Sweeper Cream Ale (5.7% abv, 15 IBU), Shabogamo Sour Berliner Weisse (4.3% ABV, 0 IBU), Spike Maul IPA (6.9% abv, 40 IBU), Railbender Red Ale (5.5% abv, 20 IBU), and Overburden Oat Stout (4.9% abv, 32 IBU). Sales are currently limited to glasses at the bar, with growler sales planned to be launched soon.
Iron Rock Brewing is located at 118 Humphrey Road in Labrador City.
