Argentina: New crop barley plantings forecast to reach 1 mln ha
Farmers sales of old crop barley by June 19 were 3.1 mln tonnes of malting and 1.75 mln tonnes of feed barley in Argentina, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their July report.
New crop plantings are forecast to reach 1.0 mln ha, plantings by June 19 were 209,000 ha.
Planting conditions were very good in the provinces of Buenos Aires and Cordoba, while heavy rains in the Northeast of the country led to water-logging and a likely reduction of barley planting.
According to local sources, market prices new crop barley FOB Necochea/BB, Dec were: feed USD 175,-, malting USD 220,-; Uruguayan malting barley, Sept, FOB USD 235,-.
