Republic of Moldova: Efes Breweries International announced on November 8 it intends to invest some US$10 million into its subsidiary Efes Vitanta Moldova Breweries next year, according to Moldova’s press. This is a complementary investment to US$7 million invested in 2003-2004, Vitanta’s General Director Yakov Tikhman revealed.
Efes Vitanta Moldova Brewery, located in Chisinau, has 0.75 million hectoliters of brewing and 0.4 million hectoliters of soft drinks bottling capacity per annum. It is the leader of the Moldovan Market in the beer, soft drinks and water segments. Moldovan beer market, with total consumption of around 0.6 million hectoliters and per capita consumption of 14 liters as of 2003, is among the fastest growing markets in Europe. The brewery produces "Vitanta", "Chisinau", "Arc", "Aurie" and "Camarad" beer brands, "Viva" soft drink brand and "Real" mineral water brand. Efes Vitanta registered sales of US$25 million in 2003. The company expects to reach to increase 20% this year.
