Japan: Kirin reports loss of 36 bln yen in Q1

One of Japan’s leading brewers, Kirin Holdings, reported on May 9 first-quarter revenue of 434.334 trillion yen, up from 431.201 trillion as of March 31, 2018.

Operating profit dropped to 36.857 bln yen from 37.067 bln last year, the company said.

The company’s net loss in the quarter was 36.539 bln yet versus a profit of 62.973 bln in Q1 2018.

Kirin’s beer sales dropped by 13.2% to 111 thousand kilolitres over the reporting period.
