World: Barley trade forecast unchanged from last month

World barley trade forecast for 2018/19 is almost unchanged from last month, at 26.555 mln tonnes, USDA said in its April report (the March issue had the forecast at 26.505 mln tonnes).

In 2017/18, world barley trade is expected to total 26.945 mln tonnes, the USDA analysts said.

Global barley production this season is forecast at 140.657 mln tonnes vs. 140.713 mln in the March report and 144.08 mln in 2017/18.

Total barley consumption is seen at 142.266 mln tonnes vs. 141.776 mln forecast in March and 147.199 mln tonnes in 2017/18, and ending stocks are forecast at 18.346 mln tonnes vs. 18.448 and 19.955 mln tonnes, respectively.
