Brewing news USA, MI: Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewing LLC to merge with the Saugatuck Brewing Company

Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewing LLC announced the brewery will merge with the Saugatuck Brewing Company of Douglas, MI, to become the newly-minted Saugatuck Brewing Company – Kalamazoo, WWMT-TV reported on March 3.

After receiving government approval, the Saugatuck Brewing Company will have operational management over Gonzo's in the brewery's current Kalamazoo location.

“We’re excited to be entering into this new market and be serving our beers along with other great breweries and craft beer bars in the Kalamazoo area,” Megan Scheerhorn, Vice President of Marketing at Saugatuck Brewing Company, said in a statement. “This is a great opportunity for us to grow as a company and continue the legacy of making great beer at this location for the people of Kalamazoo.”

The Saugatuck Brewing Company stated that all current Gonzo's employees were welcome to continue working under new management, and that the bar would continue to offer an extensive food menu.

Several of the popular Gonzo's specialty beers, including the popular Vanilla Porter, would also stay on the menu, in addition to adding new Saugatuck-specific brews.

Current Gonzo's Pint Club Memberships would also be honored under the brewery's new management.

“We are excited for this merger!” says Paul Nowaczyk, member of Gonzo’s BiggDogg Brewing LLC. “As part of Gonzo’s BiggDogg Brewing’s mission, our goal has been to share our superbly balanced products and brands such as Gonzo’s Vanilla Porter and Burning Sun Redd to as many craft beer enthusiasts as possible.”

The breweries expect to receive government approval for the merger this March.
