India: The United Breweries Limited, launched on October 14 its new offering Jaguar, a winey beer, in Bangalore to attract a new class of guzzlers. With a sweet taste of wine, Jaguar, which has eight per cent alcohol content, had been released after two years of intense research and development in various UB centres across the world, Assistant Vice President for sales and Marketing of the Group Kiran Kumar told newsmen in Bangalore on October 14, according to IndiaExpress Bureau.

The group which played a dominant role in the beer market in India accounting for 40 % of the total sales of over 84 million cases of beer had applied for a world patent for the new product which had received encouraging results when it had been first launched in Kathmandu.

Positioning the beer as a ''different animal'', the Group aimed to attract new class of guzzlers who were looking for a new brand.

Stating that Jaguar was the first of its kind in the world, he said the company aimed to create a new untapped consumer base.

The beer would be rolled out nationally in a phased manner after it was test marketed in Karnataka, which was among the top three beer consuming states in the country along with Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
