USA: Brewers Association releases top US brewers 2017 list

The Brewers Association (BA) — the not-for-profit trade group representing small and independent craft brewers — released on March 14 its annual lists of the top 50 producing craft brewing companies and overall brewing companies in the U.S., based on beer sales volume. Of the top 50 overall brewing companies, 40 were small and independent craft brewing companies.

“In an increasingly competitive and mature marketplace, these brewing companies continue to lead and pave the path for small and independent craft brewers,” said Bart Watson, chief economist, Brewers Association.

According to the trade group, the 2017 top 5 US craft brewing companies are:

1. D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc
2. Boston Beer Co
3. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co
4. New Belgium Brewing Co
5. Duvel Moortgat

The top 5 overall brewing companies in the US are:

1. Anheuser-Busch, Inc
2. MillerCoors
3. Constellation Brands
4. Heineken
5. Pabst Brewing Co
