UK: UK’s brewers, maltsters, and distillers increase barley and wheat usage in Q4 2017
In Q4 2017, United Kingdom’s brewers, maltsters and distillers used 470 thousand tonnes of barley up 1.1% and 211 thousand tonnes of wheat up 5.3%, against the same period in 2016, Defra reported earlier in February.
Crop year to date barley usage (July-December 2017) totalled 937 thousand tonnes, an increase of 2.8% versus the same period in 2016. Wheat usage was up 12% at 424 thousand tonnes.
