EU: Malting barley market busy on execution and logistics
The EU malting barley market for the crop year remains busy on execution and logistics, with local freight market up, and quality concerns around in several places of origin, GrainCom reported on November 24.
Pregermination, skinned kernels, low germination are the issues, the analysts said.
Demand-wise there seems to be nothing to report. Only the crop 2018 and even 2019 showed again some activity, with several German brewers pricing some malt at present market prices.
The countryside in Scandinavia sold decent volumes in recent days and weeks, and GrainCom believe that selling side will reduce its activities at lower market price levels, the analysts expect a firmer tendency.
