EU: Scandinavian barley harvest progresses quickly, quality satisfactory so far
Barley harvest progress advanced quickly in Scandinavia, yields are still above average levels, quality satisfactory, GrainCom analysts said in their latest report.
The analysts now expect more than 1 mln tonnes of exportable surplus in Denmark (and close to 200 thousand tonnes from Sweden) and think that a lot of it will find a happy home in Germany and other parts of Europe, where there are big issues with the quality of the crop.
The situation in the UK is still not clear and the market will need at least some more weeks to qualify and quantify the crop results. UK originators continue to be more on the buying than on the selling side of the market.
