Brazil: Brewing industry generates 2.2 mln jobs and R$23 bln in taxes
According to Brazilian Association of Beer Industry (CervBrasil), there are 117 thousand ha planted with cereals destined for beer production in Brazil, Brasil.gov.br reported on August 4.
Brewing industry in Brazil generates around 2.2 mln jobs and accounts for 1.6% of the GDP, contributing R$23 bln in taxes annually.
The worlds third-largest beer maker, Brazil produced 14.1 bln litres of beer in 2016, which places it just after China and the United States.
The nations Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, there are currently 610 breweries registered in Brazil producing 7,540 different brands.
