Spain & Brazil: Spanish brewer Estrella Galicia to build its first brewery in Brazil
Spanish brewer Estrella Galicia on July 13 signed a protocol outlining its investment plans in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Hoje em Dia reported on July 14.
The company intends to establish a brewery in Poços de Caldas, the investments into which could amount to R$100 mln at first stage. Initially the plant will produce 20 mln litres of beer per annum but this capacity could be further increased, should market conditions justify it, the company said.
Leader in the premium segment on the Spanish beer market, Estrella Galicia was founded in 1906. The company entered the Brazilian market in 2008, starting to export there its brands Estrella Galicia, Estrella Galicia 0.0% (non-alcoholic), 1906 Reserva especial, 1906 Red Vintage and 1906 Black Coupage.
