World: Malting barley markets expected to see less global trade this year
Malting barley markets will see less global trade in 2017, rather a split-up in continental sectors, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their February report.
Australias bumper crop will dominate the Asian market, crops in Mercosur are good and large enough to satisfy the South American demand, and Europe still has a safe supply for its own industry, however, no great export surplus, which is anyway not competitive in world markets, the analysts said.
The U.S. and Canada collected good crops, Canada even exported barley to China. The future of grain trade in NAFTA has become clouded under the new U.S. administration.
