Brewing news USA, VA: Corcoran Brewing Company to merge with with B Chord Brewing

Jim and Lori Corcoran's Corcoran Brewing Company announced on February 24 they are forming a new partnership with B Chord Brewing, owned by Marty and Rose Dougherty, to create a “better and stronger” brewery operation, Loudoun Times-Mirror reported.

The new brewery, which will be under the B Chord Brewing Company name, will have operations in Round Hill and in Purcellville, pending the licensing and approval process.

As one of the first farm breweries in Virginia, the Corcorans became friends with the Doughertys while B Chord was working to have their license approved in Bluemont.

After ABC denied B Chord's brewery license in Bluemont, B Chord decided not to appeal and they've moved to Round Hill, where they are still awaiting licensing approvals.

“Marty is very passionate about farm brewing and his desire to bring additional agricultural usage to Loudoun through brewing was right in line with my ideas,” Jim Corcoran said in a prepared statement.

“Together, as B Chord Brewing Company, we’ll be able to focus on great craft beer, brewed with fresh ingredients sourced from our own Round Hill farm or from other nearby farmers. I’m very excited to be part of a farm brewery again,” Corcoran added.

Once all the appropriate licenses and government approvals are in place, Corcoran Brewing's Purcellville location will become B Chord Brewing Companies, as will a 64-acre farm property at 34266 Williams Gap Road in Round Hill.

B Chord plans to grow and locally source grains, hops, fresh fruit, and other ingredients such as honey and roasted coffee whenever possible. The idea is to bring fresh farm ingredients into the beer making process.

“Lori and I along very excited to be part of B Chord and look forward to sharing a beer with you at the Purcellville brewery or the new farm location in Round Hill early this summer,” Corcoran said.
