World: World barley trade forecast unchanged this month

USDA has left unchanged (at 26.905 mln tonnes) its forecast for global barley trade in 2016/17 this month.

Kazakh barley export forecast is boosted 300,000 tonnes to 1.0 million with the brisk pace of recent exports, the Department of Agriculture said.

In 2015/16, world barley trade is estimated to have totalled 27.476 mln tonnes.

Barley production is forecast at 143.953 mln tonnes, down from last month’s forecast of 144.057 mln tonnes. In 2015/16, production was 147.932 mln tonnes, USDA said.

Total consumption is forecast at 146.692 mln tonnes (146.187 in January, 147.375 in 2015/16) and ending stocks at 22.877 mln (23.009 and 24.616 mln, respectively).
