Brewing news Czech Republic: Svijany offers Fitness beer

Pivovar Svijany, a North Bohemian privately-owned brewery, raised sales by a fifth to Kč 400 million last year, compared with Kč 330 million in sales in 2005, and gross profit was at Kč 75 million last year, CBW reported June 18.

Sales grew thanks to higher output as well as a growth in prices. The brewery supplied 227,000 hectoliters of beer to the market last year, some 11 percent more than in 2005. In January-May, the company supplied over 100,000 hectoliters of beer to clients, 20 percent more than a year earlier. The brewery also introduced nonalcoholic beer onto the market last year and recently added light 3.2 degree Fitness beer to its line. Beer production in Svijany started in the year 1564. The company has 80 staff.
