Barley news Australia: ABB Grain Community Fund applications closing soon

Regional communities need to get their applications in quickly if they want to be considered for funding from ABB Grain’s Community Fund, ABB said in a press release, June 14.

Communities have until July 3 to submit an application for funding, with grants of up to $5000 available.

The grants are open to all regional communities across Australia that are seeking funding for community-minded projects in areas like education and training, health, youth development or community amenity.

ABB Grain’s corporate affairs manager, Marc Cooney, who in April announced the opening of the Community Fund, said he was pleased with the number and variety of applications so far received.

“Applications close in a couple of weeks and already we’ve received entries from all states of Australia. I’d encourage regional communities who have a specific project in mind to make sure they don’t miss out on this opportunity to possibly secure funding,” Mr Cooney said.

“The grants will be allocated to projects that benefit communities as a whole and where external funding or charitable aid is unavailable, or inadequate.

“We aim to support as many communities as possible as a way of giving something back to those that we rely on for goodwill and support to operate our business.”

Mr Cooney said the advisory committee, which was made up of representatives from Australia’s agricultural industry, would have a tough time assessing the many worthy applications to decide where the funds would best be directed.

“Funds will be distributed in August and all applicants will be contacted in due course, to let them know about the outcome of their application,” he said.

With a keen interest in the sustainability of country areas, ABB remains committed to investing in and supporting regional communities where it conducts business and its employees work, live and play.
