Brewing news Bulgaria: Dumping prices of Bulgarian beer sold in Romania are a result of the different standards in the two countries

The ‘Lomsko pivo’ brewery in Bulgaria exports production to the Romanian town of Pitesti, according to FOCUS News Agency, June 13.The beer offered at the Romanian market, is being exported according to the Law for Excise and all the legal requirements have been observed’, the Executive Director of the Lomsko Pivo brewery Kolyo Nikolov said.

Nikolov was commenting on information that Bulgarian beer is being sold at dumping prices illegally in Romania.

He commented that excise duty and VAT on the beer must be paid in Romania. The exported beer has the necessary permits for export of excise goods.

“The dumping price on their market is something completely different. It all comes from the different standards in the two countries. The fact that the beer comes at a lower price in Romania is not our problem”, he said.
