Bulgaria: Bulgarian brewer Boliarka VT to boost output in 2007
Bulgarian beer marker Boliarka VT will invest some 4 mln euro to boost production capacity in 2007 to hitch onto export opportunities created by the country's recent EU entry, said executive director Anton Nenov, Denvnik reported June 4.
The resource will be spent on new fermentation and bottling equipment and refrigeration installations.
The company, which has sold 139,700 hectoliters of beer so far this year, recently launched a new line for PET bottles. In April, beer exports topped 1,578 hectoliters with the bulk shipped to neighbouring Romania.
In related news, the union of brewers in Romania has complained to the press that Southern Romania is awash with Bulgarian beer marketed at dumping prices as much as 30% lower than those of competing brands. The union has singled out Boliarka as the producer of the imported cheap beer.
