Brewing news Mexico: Viva World Trade plans to brew and bottle its own premium beer

Viva World Trade, Inc. and its Mexican subsidiary Canmex Imports, the exclusive importer and national distributor of the "mike's hard lemonade" brand family in Mexico, is pleased to announce its intention to expand its current business model to include exportation and distribution of its own brand of premium Mexican beer, Viva World Trade stated in its press release of March 16.

The Company is currently exploring the feasibility and potential of a malt-based production and bottling operation, to include premium beers and malt-based flavored alcoholic beverages for the Mexican domestic market and possible export. "mike's hard lemonade," imported from the United States, is a malt-based flavored alcoholic beverage.

"The timing is right for Viva and Canmex to step into the brewing business. Mexican and global demand for Mexican brews is up significantly in recent years and is expected to continue growing. We are very excited about the potential of becoming either a bottler or distributor for a new brand of Mexican beer which we can call our own," said Neil Mikkelsen, President & CEO.

Mexico's domestic beer market is growing rapidly and worldwide demand for Mexican beer has never been higher. Mexico's two largest brewers, Grupo Modelo S.A. (Corona) and FEMSA Cerveza (Sol), control 90% of the domestic beer market and nearly 100% of the export market. In 2006, export sales accounted for about 10% of total Mexican beer production.

In the U.S., Mexican beer leads all other imports by a wide-margin, accounting for over 35% of the U.S. import market last year. In 2006, sales of Corona were up 8.1%, making it the leading imported beer and the sixth best-selling beer overall in the U.S. FEMSA Cerveza's export sales grew 15.3% in 2006. Mexican beer has also seen its popularity and demand grow across Europe and Asia.

"We are moving forward with this new business model and expect to finalize the formulation shortly. Once finalized, we hope to formalize agreements with bottlers and/or distributors and, assuming sufficient financing is available, identify a suitable location for the brewery," said Mikkelsen.

Further information regarding the Company's current import and distribution business as well as updates on any progress we are making in bringing our beer formulation to market will be made available in forthcoming press releases.
