Brewing news Vietnam: Breweries biggest spenders on sales promotions

Vietnamese businesses spent over VND523 billion (US$32.5 million) on 357 sales campaigns last year, with two breweries heading the list, following by soft drink, food, and telecoms companies, according to VietnamNet, January 20.

The Vietnam Brewery Ltd, which makes and markets Tiger and Heineken beers, topped the list spending VND32.33 billion ($2.01 million). The Ho Chi Minh City-based company is majority-owned by Singapore’s Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd.

Dai Viet beer followed with VND26.55 billion ($1.65 million).

The other top spenders were Dutch Lady Vietnam Food and Soft Drink Company (VND26.36 billion), Coca Cola Vietnam (VND18 billion), the Inter-provincial Telecommunications Company (VND16.68 billion), PepsiCo Vietnam (VND13 billion), HanoiMilk (VND11.56 billion), the Bank for Development and Investment of Vietnam (BIDV) (VND10 billion).

Spending on sales promotions had jumped by 19 percent compared to the previous year, the Trade Ministry said Thursday.

The 10 largest programs alone were worth VND168 billion ($10.5 million).
