Sweden: Systembolaget’s sales grew thanks to strong beer

Systembolaget, Swedish state-run alcohol retail monopoly registered 5% sales growth last year, the company announced.

Sales, measured in pure alcohol, rose 5.5% in 2006 to 38.4m litres. Strong beer sales have known the sharpest increase, with sales up 9.3% to 195.7m litres.

Wine sales rose 5.2% to 150.2m litres. Spirits sales were almost the same, growing only 0.4% to 18.9m litres.
