Germany: Radeberger to take over Freiberger Brauhaus
Radeberger Gruppe and Actris have agreed on the acquisition of Freiberger Brauhaus, a brewery which produced about 850,000 hl of beer and generated a turnover of around EUR 45mn (US$ 55.27mn) in 2005, Mitteldeutsche Zeitung announced May 05.
The deal has still to be approved by the German Cartel Office.
Hans Michael Eßlinger, Spokesman of the Management Board of Freiberger Brauhaus, is confident however that Radeberger will obtain the green light for the acquisition. The acquisition of Freiberger Brauhaus is part of Radebergers strategy to augment the market share in Germany from around 15% at present to more than 20% in the medium term.
In 2005, Radeberger Gruppe sold 13million hl of beer in Germany and announced an unaffected group turnover of EUR 1.3bn.
