EU & UK: Barley crop forecast unchanged at 57.7 mln tonnes
With the focus now shifted to crop25, winter seeding is off to a slow start due to wet conditions and this wetness in Europe leaves France barley seeding at 20% (as of October14th) versus 45% last year, and a 5-Yr average of 42%, RMI Analytics said in its latest report this week.
Beneficial rains across western Russia, have vastly improved the moisture situation, especially in areas where dryness concerns had slowed planting of winter wheat and barley.
RMI Analytics EU27+UK barley crop24 estimate is unchanged at 57.7 mln tonnes, including a much-needed rebound of 1.3 mln tonnes in malting barley availability.
With harvest complete, malting barley prices are drifting higher but these increases are offset by a stronger USD. The market remains quiet as the improved availability of malting barley awaits still a rebound in demand.
