Brewing news Mexico: Study confirms 78% of Mexicans over 18 years of age prefer beer over other alcoholic beverages

The global market research consultancy Appinio conducted a study to learn about consumption habits and trends in the Mexican beer industry, which is one of the country's main economic activities, FreshlyBottled.com reported.

The study confirms that 78 percent of Mexicans over 18 years of age prefer beer over other alcoholic beverages, with Millennials (27-42 years) accounting for 88 percent, followed by Generation X (43-57 years) and Boomers (58-65 years). However, Generation Z (18-26 years) is the one that consumes the least beer. In terms of gender, men tend to consume more beer (83 percent) than women.

The characteristic that 48 percent of beer consumers value most is its refreshing capacity, ideal for warm climates like Mexico's. In addition, 44 percent of Mexicans choose it for its distinctive flavor compared to other alcoholic beverages and because it combines better with certain foods, as well as being easier to find in the supermarket, are factors that influence its popularity.

Regarding the frequency of beer consumption, 42 percent of people consume beer once a week. On the other hand, 25 percent do so occasionally and only 5 percent do so daily, where men are the population that is most likely to drink this type of beverage on a daily basis (7 percent), compared to 3 percent of women.
