EU: July-October malt exports virtually unchanged from last year
EU malt exports (in barley equivalent) in July-October were 920 thousand tonnes, virtually unchanged from a year ago, H. M. Gauger GmbH said earlier this month.
Main customers were Brazil which imported 75 thousand tonnes, Nigeria with 73 thousand, the UK with 54, and Japan with 53 thousand tonnes of EU malt imported.
According to the latest report by RMI Analytics, a very mild October has contributed to a very comfortable gas storage situation across Europe and reduces the likelihood of gas-driven interruptions to operations for brewers and maltsters. Many maltsters are busy adding contingent energy systems as well (at considerable capital) to ensure operations are uninterrupted.
