EU: Barley crop estimate down 1.1 mln tonnes to 57.8 mln this month
Very beneficial rains finally arrived in France (very timely) but were followed recently by extremely heat, RMI Analytics said in their latest June report.
The analysts EU barley crop estimate is down 1.1 mln tonnes due to expected yield loss at 57.8 mln tonnes in the latest report.
Barley prices are lower across Europe. Part of this influence is from outside markets (e.g. wheat) and partially due to the start of France harvest. Tight old crop stocks and underlying demand limit the downside in prices. Malting premiums are wide with a correction likely but the timing and degree remain very much a question.
