World: Barley production forecast reduced to 145.7 mln tonnes
Global barley production forecast is reduced further in RMI Analytics late May report to 145.7 mln tonnes, with downward revisions for Ukraine (-0.5 mln tonnes) and France (-0.8 mln).
With supply already under strain, the analysts current view is a 2 mln tonne reduction from crop 2021 and 13.1 mln tonnes from crop 2020.
Weather is dominating the market with France in desperate need of rain and limited relief forecast for the next week or so. In North America, delays in planting are a concern for potential wheat and barley production.
