Beer giant SABMiller plc is uncorking the biggest greenfield expansion in India's brewing industry and is finalizing plans for 2 million hectoliter plants at Murthal in Haryana and Bidadi in Karnataka, AFX News Limited reported June 26.
Each of the plants could attract investment of around 2 billion rupees, the paper reported.
These will be the biggest brewing plants in India when completed in the next 24-30 months. German major Ziemann has been brought in to execute the projects in Haryana and Karnataka.
"The company is in the midst of identifying land to acquire a project in Karnataka. At the same time, the company is also looking at expanding capacities in Haryana and Andhra Pradesh," the paper quoted SABMiller India's director, corporate affairs, Sundeep Kumar as saying.
