Barley news Bulgaria: Bulgaria barley prices poised to crack 330 levs/ton

The first barley deals in the Dobrich and Varna regions transacted at 300 levs/ton (EUR 153 /t) with the price reaching 330 levs/ton(EUR 168.5/t) with taxes in Southern Bulgaria, said Krasimir Avramov, chairman of the association of grain producers, Dnevnik reported June 22.

Barley prices range between 290 and 330 levs/ton (EUR 148/t and EUR 168.5/t) from region to region and since they are on par with the international markets, the experts said the crop will be bought out either for export or for beer production.

In a knock-on from rising demand for barley from biofuel producers on the international markets, local prices have also been on the up, said Radoslav Ivanov, chairman of the association of grain traders. He is adamant that no trader would be buying at 300 levs/ton because he would not make any profit on that export.
