Canada: Molsons Edmonton brewery workers walk for a strike
A spokesman for Molson Canada says its Edmonton workers are setting the stage for a strike, Canadian Press reported May 30.
Ferg Devins said in a telephone interview from Toronto that workers at the Edmonton brewery had served notice they would walk off the job at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. Devins says both sides were in talks earlier Tuesday but had reached an impasse. He said he is still optimistic an agreement can be reached and that workers will soon be back on the job.
He said the company has sufficient supplies of beer in place to serve the Western Canada market through the summer.
