USA: Hop stocks up 23% from 2006

The inventory of hops held by growers, dealers, and brewers on March 1, 2007 totalled 85.0 million pounds, 23 percent more than March 1, 2006, and 12 percent more than March 1, 2005, National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), announced in its press release of March 20.

At this level, hop stocks are the same as those held on March 1, 2004.

Stocks held by brewers, at 42.0 million pounds, were up 8 percent from a year ago, but were 2 percent less than March 1, 2005. Stocks held by growers and dealers on March 1, 2007 totalled 43.0 million pounds, 43 percent more than March 1, 2006, and 30 percent more than March 1, 2005.
