Australia: Barley Australia gives malting barley accreditation to new variety RGT Planet

The Board of Barley Australia has announced the successful accreditation of RGT Planet as a malting barley variety.

RGT Planet was submitted by Seed Force and accredited as malting barley following the evaluation trials conducted in association with the Malting and Brewing Industry Barley Technical Committee (MBIBTC) assessment under the Barley Australia malting barley evaluation process.

RGT Planet was entered into the program as a high yielding spring barley with a robust agronomic profile. It is most suited to producing malt for brewers with a high fermentability and thus will be well matched for many domestic and export markets.

As with all previous accreditations, it is the market that will determine the success of this new variety. The Barley Australia malting barley evaluation and accreditation process is recognised as the required standard for the determination of malting barley for all new Australian malting barley varieties.
