USA, NY: River Outpost Brewing officially open in Peekskill
River Outpost Brewing, in Peekskill's Factoria complex, is officially open, The Journal News reported on April 10.
Though the new brewery has been slinging suds since February, the official opening was held on April 7, led by head brewer (and Captain Lawrence alum) Justin Sturges.
Officials from Westchester County, City of Peekskill, and Town of Cortlandt were on hand, as were the principal owners: longtime restaurateurs John Sharp of Birdsall House and Gleasons, Louis Lanza of Hudson Hospitality Group (Taco Dive Bar, The Hudson Room, Eagle Saloon and Buns-N-Bourbon) and Captain Lawrence Brewing Co. founder Scott Vaccaro.
Beer aficionados will find eight original brews crafted on site, ranging from IPAs to pilsners and stouts. Among the offerings: Sharkee, a dry-hopped floral, dry pilsner; Skillbilly, a cloudy, straw-colored IPA; Cool Hand, a light, crisp lager and Nurse Batchie, a full-bodied brown porter.
There's also a bar menu featuring chicken wings, hummus, calamari, a River Outpost burger (with secret sauce), pizza and more.
