Denmark: Barley export surplus seen at up to 1 mln tonnes
The export surplus of Denmarks barley crop 2017 is seen at 0.9 to 1.0 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts reported in December.
Buy-backs of export contracts in November and early December are explained by unexpected quality problems, i.e. loss of germination, industry sources say.
Estimates are that Denmark sold 500 600,000 tonnes of barley as of early December, almost exclusively to Germany/Netherlands/Belgium.
Denmark and Sweden also sold about 150,000 tonnes of crop 2018 barley, it is reported.
