World: German beer output down 1.9% in January-July but Italy, Portugal, Latvia first-half results are very positive
German beer output in January-July this year was 55.5 mln hl, minus 1.9% as compared to the same period in 2016, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in September.
Alcohol-free beer output, which is not included in official statistics, amounted to 3.57 mln hl in January-June, down 8% (data by Kelch/Hohmann).
Japan reported good summer sales during the period of July 1-20, some brands saw sales go up 5 6%.
Available first half 2017 results are: Italy plus 11.5% (especially premium/special beers), Portugal plus 10%, Latvia plus 12%. Ukraines first-half sales were down 3.9% to 10.8 mln hl.
