Brewing news Ukraine: Carlsberg Ukraine to expand activity in Moldova and Georgia

In spite of an 8% decline in production volume in January-September 2012, Carlsberg Ukraine managed to increase net sales by 2% and net income by 3% owing to higher beer prices, Petr Chernyshov, Chief Executive at Carlsberg Ukraine, was quoted as saying by Beercomments.com.ua on December, 19.

According to industry observers’ estimates, average retail beer price of beer in Ukraine in September 2012 was 15.4% higher than in the same month in 2011.

In 2013, the company plans to expand its activity in Moldova and Georgia markets, Mr. Chernyshov said.

“We don’t have production facilities in Moldova and Georgia,” he said. “We import beer from Ukraine. Moldova’s market, which we entered two years ago, showed good dynamics in 2012, exports of beer from Ukraine to Moldova grew by 30%. As for Georgia, we just started working there. We intend to achieve 10% growth in the Georgian market within two years.”
