Molson Coors Brewing Company, and its U.S. subsidiary, Coors Brewing Company, together offered $1 million to help fund the Democratic National Convention Host Committee’s successful bid to bring the 2008 Convention to Denver, Business Wire reported January 11.

“As a global business with a major Denver presence, we are pleased to support both the Host Committee’s bid and the city of Denver,” said Leo Kiely, chief executive officer of Molson Coors Brewing Company. “This is an event that will bring economic benefit to our community and will showcase Denver to the world as a top-tier tourist and convention destination.”

“An event like this is great news for Colorado, and as a company whose Colorado roots go back more than 130 years, we’re delighted to help make it happen,” said Frits van Paasschen, chief executive officer and president of Coors Brewing Company.
