EU: Malteurop acquires Sachsenmalz of Germany and Baltic Malt of Poland
Group MALTEUROP announced on December 14th,2006 the take-over of the two malting companies, following the insolvency process of Friedrich Weissheimer Malzfabrik KG. By these acquisitions, MALTEUROP strengthens on its development in the European Union.
- SACHSENMALZ operates a 60,000-tonne malting plant in Heidenau, near Dresden (Saxony, Germany) ;
- BALTIC MALT owns a 65,000-tonne malting unit, with direct sea access in the port of Gdansk, Poland.
While actively contributing to the consolidation process of the malting industry, MALTEUROP enlarges and strengthens its sustainable supply solutions offer to its customers, European and international brewers.
Daniel HUVET, Managing Director, International Division, declared : “We are very pleased to have reached this agreement and to integrate the two businesses in the MALTEUROP European structure. Pending regulatory approvals, the acquisition of SACHSENMALZ and BALTIC MALT will take up the MALTEUROP malt production to over 1,200,000 tonnes, with 15 plants in 7 countries (France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine and China).
