Japan: Asahi Breweries Ltd. announced it will cancel 10 million shares on 01/12/2006

Japan's Asahi Breweries Ltd. said November 20 it would cancel 10 million of its own shares, or 2.03 percent of those outstanding, on December 01, Reuters communicated November 20.

Asahi said in its last monthly sales report that October sales totalled 1.886 million hl (14,903 cases) which indicates a 5.1% year-on-year monthly drop. Beer sales alone contracted to 1.235 million hl (-15.3%). Sales of low malt happoshu underperformed to 267,08 hl (-27.2%) while no-malt beer sales accounted for 383,91 hl (+134.1%)
