Brewing news Nepal: Rebel Maoist government has bared the supply of Tuborg and Carlsberg beer from Gorkha Brewery

According to a Kathmandu Post report of November 02, maoists have barred the supply of popular products- Tuborg and Carlsberg beer of Gorkha Brewery- from the factory, claiming that the company has not paid "tax" to the rebel outfit. The rebels have imposed restriction on the supply of these products from the brewery at Mukundapur VDC, from 2 pm on November 02, according to factory sources. The ban has been imposed as per the orders of the "district people's government", a Maoist source claimed.

"The two factories have not paid tax to the people's government in spite of several requests. The ban has been imposed to make them pay the required tax," the source stated. Maoist cadres have been guarding the main gates of the factory, factory employees said. However, the rebels have not stopped transport of raw material to the factories.
