Canada: Molson Coors opens new head office in Calgary

Molson Coors breweries, Canada's leading brewer, officially launched October 19 the opening of its new Western Canada head office in Calgary.

"Calgary is the hub of Molson's business network in Western Canada," said Mike Ross, Molson's vice president for Western Canada.

"It's a network that extends beyond the city, including our breweries in Edmonton and Vancouver, our local sales offices in Regina and Winnipeg, and our involvement in communities across the West," Ross said.

The new office, located in the Kensington district, will be home for all Western Canada business functions, including: sales; marketing; strategic planning; finance; human resources; and public affairs. The western market includes all communities west of Manitoba to British Columbia and north to include the territories.

"Beer is a local business as consumer and customer needs vary across the country," Ross said. "Molson believes it is important to have people located in those markets who understand those needs and who have the ability to make decisions locally."

Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier welcomed Molson's new head office and praised the company for its community investment. "Molson is a company with a great history in Canada, and as a city, we certainly welcome and appreciate this new head office and the additional investment in Calgary," Bronconnier said.

"It's strong statement about Calgary's growing place in the North American economy, and about Molson's optimism about where our city is heading. I wish them great success."

With the office opening, Molson announced a $5,000 donation to Inn from the Cold, a volunteer society that provides homeless families with food and shelter.

"Molson is more than just Canada's market-leading brewer - we are a community builder," Ross said. We are pleased today to continue our tradition of community giving with Inn from the Cold, to help provide hot meals and a safe bed to some of Calgary's less-fortunate families. John Molson started his brewery 220 years ago with strong community values - and today we're proud to play our part here in Calgary," Ross said.

The Molson Donations Fund has contributed more than $50,000 to Alberta charities so far in 2006.
