The brewers of the Republic of Moldova produced about 43.8 million litres of beer in 2002, local press writes. 73% of the local beer market is held by Vitanta-Intravest, recently bought by Efes Beverage Group. 7 million litres of beer were imported in 2002 year. The most beer (5.68 million litres) was imported from the CIS countries (former Soviet Union), mainly from Ukraine.
