Latin America: Barley crop forecasts are less optimistic
The USDA forecasts crops of 800,000 tons of barley in Argentina and 380,000 tons in Brazil, more or less the same quantities as last year, analysts estimated October 02. In Rio Grande do Sul / Brazil frost has damaged and reduced the barley crop by upto 40%.
The new malthouse near Rosario and the expansion of the factory at Tres Arroyos will supply additional demand, mainly in Brazil. Because of good beer sales the added production will not reduce malt imports from North America and Europe very much.
