Barley news World: The latest barley market events

The EU Grains Management Committee approved the sale of 54,583 tonnes of intervention barley stocks (Poland, Hungary and Estonia) for export at a min. selling price of 101.11 – 102.60 euros/MT.

Japan’s Agriculture Ministry conducted its fourth SBS import tender for feed barley last week, with reports showing that the U.S. captured 73% or 131,000 tonnes of the total tender (180,600 tonnes). The Japanese Ag Ministry purchased 20,000 tonnes of Australian barley in this week’s grain import tender.

Stats Canada released their 2006 crop report today, showing Canadian barley production at 10.011 MMT, down from their July estimate of 10,287,000 tonnes, and a decrease of nearly 20% from last year.
